Automated Ball Indentation®  (ABI ® ) is a nondestructive mechanical test where a spherical (ball) indenter is forced into the surface of a metallic sample or a structural component to nondestructively determine tensile and fracture toughness. This is performed using the Stress-Strain Microprobe® (SSM™).
